Master June Hwang
Master June Hwang was born in Brooklyn New York and began training in Tae Kwon Do at age 3.
Growing up in a rough neighborhood worried Master Hwangs parents so they made sure that he
was involved in activities to keep him out of trouble.
In order to provide a safer environment for the family, Master Hwangs parents decided to move to Washington after their business was destroyed by arson. Master Hwang re-enrolled in Tae Kwon Do and began again as a white belt according to his parents wishes in order for him to improve his skills.
After achieving the rank of black belt at age 16, Master Hwang immediately began assisting in classes and eventually was asked to be the main instructor of his own school at age 17. After running the school for 2 years and competing locally and nationally, Master Hwang decided to move to Korea in order to further his training and pursue a career in teaching full time.
During his 2 years in Korea, Master Hwang trained 17 hours a day, 6 days a week with some of the best martial artists in the world. He trained extensively with the Korean National Team members in Tae Kwon Do and the former head combat instructor for the Korean Secret Service in Hapkido (Korean Self defense).
Master Hwang continued competing in Korea and won 2 Kyonggi State championship titles, as well as a bronze medal at the Korea Open Championships (one of the largest international tournaments in Korea).
Master Hwang returned from Korea and decided to open up Champion Tae Kwon Do school in Mukilteo in 2003. Since then, he has trained several national medalists as well as an award winning Demonstration team. He hopes to continue training students of all ages for years to come and watch his students make life changing differences in society.
Master June Hwang is currently a Kukkiwon certified 4th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, a Korea Hapkido Association certified 2nd degree black belt, and has been training in martial arts for over 27 years.
